Hello Lovelies!
Is every ones week off to a great start? I hope so!
Saturday I got to do something that brought my past to the present! I spent a few hours Saturday morning helping my moms God Daughter Izzy with her film her audition video for the American Ballet Theater summer intensive!

Dance used to be my life, I lived and breathed everything that was ballet! I loved ballet because of how expressive of an art form it was. I was a shy girl but when I danced I felt comfortable as if nothing else in the world mattered. I felt strong and beautiful up on the stage dancing. I sometimes wonder what life would have been like if I hadn't gotten injured, and what my life would look like now. Would I still be dancing? But despite all the what ifs I was given a wonderful reminder this past weekend. I was reminded that even though I am no longer dancing ballet will always be a part of me, and I will always hold ballet near and dear to my heart!
But in all honesty all this talk about ballet has really made me miss it! And I am thinking about taking a few classes just for fun. Maybe my muscles will remember what they are supposed to do after all these years!
What about you all, is there something you no longer do (like a sport, or dance) that has helped shape you into the person you are now?
I think it is so important for children to have hobbies that teach them more about themselves! Dance is an amazing art! So glad to see you got to relive it!
ReplyDeleteThis will be fun! I hope her audition goes well.
ReplyDeleteI danced through high school. It has changed my health and has kept me limber longer...so for that I am thankful. Also I have taken up running and that really challenges me mentally and helps me succeed in other areas of my life.
I just took a ballet class last week for the first time in 2 years I think? It felt good! It's so weird to dig out all of my leotards and tights!
ReplyDeletei know so many people that feel the same way about you! My sister used to dance and misses it greatly.
ReplyDeletei tagged you in a post, i hope you can play along :)
I think you would love going back to ballet! I took as a child but had to stop when we moved overseas. I am taking barre scuplt and adult ballet now as an adult and feel so much more connected to this type of exercise than running. Let us know what you find out there!

You definitely should! I was a cheerleader in high school & played tennis. I always want to take tennis lessons again but can't afford it - and I miss dancing too!
ReplyDeleteOh you should totally take classes- so wonderful! I danced for a very long time as a child and still do miss it a little to this day!
ReplyDeleteI danced forever too and still find myself pointing my toes! My 2 year old loves when I dance, so I have busted out some ballet moves recently :) Your body will remember it!
ReplyDeleteI used to dance too! I took ballet, jazz, pointe, and tap for 9 years and then just got burnt out with it all. There are days when I definitely miss it....and how in shape I was.
ReplyDeleteYou should totally take a ballet class!
ReplyDeleteHope that your mom's goddaughter's auditions go okay!
I LOVED track in high school/middle school. I was good at it and sometimes I just crave sprinting. Weird, but true. You should def. take a class!
ReplyDeleteBallet is so beautiful, but sadly I'm way too spazzy to have ever done anything like that. Very cool that you did, though!
ReplyDeleteHorse back riding is it for me. Makes me all nostalgic when I think about it!
ReplyDeleteha..funny you mention it. i play the piano, well i used to. every time i go over to my brother's home where they have a piano, i sit down and play Beethoven's Fur Elise (have it memorized). i wish i could take lessons once again, but more than that, I could just use my books and continue wehre i left off. now i just need to buy a piano. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post!

I *love* this post...I think everyone has something that they will always hold near and dear and is a big part of who they are. I love that you are a ballerina (c: And I say "are" not "were" because I feel like once you accomplish something then it's part of you, right??? Even though I haven't played soccer in a million years, I still absolutely adore that sport and wish I still played (c: Thanks for the stroll down memory lane, I loved it!
ReplyDeletei love that you use to ballet dance ... that is so awesome. i use to sing all the time. in church, in middle and high school and in college. i miss it so much, but haven't done it in a while so i fear that i have lost my voice.
ReplyDeleteI think sewing shaped me quite a bit; I first learned when I was 12 and didn't do it again for several years. Two years ago I got back behind the machine and have since made dresses, skirts, bags, aprons, pillow cases, etc. for me and my friends. It has really helped me appreciate how quality garments are made -- and how to avoid things that are not well made. Good luck getting back into ballet! xo style, she wrote
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful that you are taking up ballet again! I was a gymnast growing up and then a tennis player. I miss both!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful and thoughtful post! I used to run track in high school and it taught me so much about discipline, motivation, self-confidence, encouragement, the list goes on. I don't run track now in college but I go running a lot in my spare time and everything that I learned four years ago still helps me achieve my running goals! Definitely sign up for a ballet class!
ReplyDeleteI say do it! I think you'll regret it later on if you didn't do it now.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way about acting. Being on the stage was a whole different world for me, and I always felt like I belonged there. I miss it quite a bit now too...
Gave you the Liebster Blog Award! Check out my blog for the details! Have a great day! xoxo, Ash
